Hands-Free Knee Lift

Easily pivot fabric with the detachable knee lifter that raises the presser foot 10mm with a tap of the knee. The knee lift makes it easy to pick up your presser foot hands-free, allowing you to keep hold of your project. When not in use, the knee lifter rod is conveniently stored in the bottom of the extension table.

Presser Foot Pressure Adjustment

Sew professional-level stitches with the help of the adjustable presser foot pressure. Turn the regulator along the top of the machine to adjust your pressure according to the type of fabric you are sewing. For your everyday cotton fabrics, you will use the N setting, and if you are sewing lightweight or sheer material, you may want to increase the pressure so your fabric doesn t shift. For heavyweight fabric, you may need lighter pressure so it can slide more easily between the feed dogs and the presser foot.

Pin Feed System

The Precision Pin Feed System assists when sewing materials of varying thicknesses. The pin is meant to guide the fabric as it comes off the feed dogs. To use the pin, you must lower your feed dogs to the red setting. Hard-to-handle fabrics like velvet, velveteen, and synthetic suede are a breeze to sew on the pin feed system.

Adjustable Feed Dogs

Brother s Nouvelle PS1600S has multiple systems to ensure you get a smooth, consistent feed on any fabric type. This machine has four adjustment levels for your feed dogs. For medium to heavyweight fabrics, you will want to have the feed dogs all the way up (green line); for lightweight materials, you can lower them one notch (blue line). To engage the pin feeding system for velvets, you will need the third option (red line), and to completely disengage the feed dogs, flip the lever all the way to the left (black line). Each one of these options ensures you get the best feed possible and gives you professional-looking stitches.
